Soon the summer holiday’s will start and you know what comes with that, your kids will want new dishes everyday and they would insist on restaurant style food. But how do you manage to get the same flavor and taste….fear not. This recipe will be an apt choice. Simple and no fuss Homemade Pizza Sauce recipe…yes this is the recipe of the day. Mainly used for making pizza and pastas for your hungry kids. We will teach you to make two versions of the sauce. For the cooked version, simply boil the tomatoes, once they are soft blend then to a puree. Cook the tomato puree along with some garlic, onions and season with some dried herbs. Spice it up with some paprika and tomato sauce, cook until the sauce thickens and is reduced, and your homemade pizza sauce is ready. For the other instant version, simply combine all the herbs, garlic and seasoning in one bowl along with the tomato ketchup, and it’s ready in a jiffy. You can store both these sauce for few days and use as and when you get a request from your kids, isn’t it simple to make. So let’s try!

INGREDIENTS:

INGREDIENTS FOR THE COOKED METHOD : 

  • 5-6 medium Tomatoes
  • 1 small Onion (chopped)
  • 1 tsp Tomato sauce
  • 1/2 tsp Black Pepper powder
  • 1/2 tsp Sugar
  • 13-14 cloves Garlic (finely chopped)
  • to taste Salt
  • 2-3 tbsp Olive Oil (as required)
  • 1/4 tsp Mexican seasoning or mixed herbs
  • 1/4 tsp Chili flakes (optional)
  • 1/4 tsp Kashmiri Paprika or Red Chili powder
  • 1/4 tsp Dried Basil or Fresh Basil leaves
  • 1tsp Dried Oregano

INGREDIENTS FOR QUICK 5 MINUTES METHOD:

  • 1/2 cup Tomato sauce
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Red Chili flakes
  • 1/4 tsp Oregano
  • 1/4 tsp Dried Basil
  • 1/4 tsp Kashmiri Paprika or Red Chili powder
  • 1 tsp Garlic cloves (chopped)
  • 1/2 tsp Chili sauce (optional)

PREPARATION:

HOW TO MAKE PIZZA SAUCE COOKED METHOD ( METHOD 1 ):

  1. Wash and cut of the top of the tomatoes, make four slits at the bottom of the tomatoes, do not cut all the way through.
  2. In a deep bottom vessel, pour 1 – 2 cups water and place the tomatoes. Boil the tomatoes for 6-8 minutes on high flame.
  3. Once done remove the tomatoes, allow it to cool.
  4. Once cooled remove the skin and blend the cooked tomatoes to a puree consistency.
  5. In a pan pour olive oil and garlic, fry the garlic for few seconds. Then add the onions, and continue to fry until soft.
  6. Next add the tomato puree, salt, oregano, paprika powder, black pepper powder, sugar, dried basil, chili flakes, Mexican seasoning and tomato sauce.
  7. Give everything a good stir. Cover the pan and cook over low to medium flame for 2-4 minutes.
  8. After few minutes the sauce will change color and will also reduce. Turn off the flame and allow the sauce to cool, before storing.
  9. Prepare pizza with this fresh sauce as it is ready to use or you can store in an air tight glass container for further use.

CHEF’S TIPS:

  • You can store the pizza sauce in an air tight container in refrigerator for about few days. 

HOW TO MAKE PIZZA SAUCE THE UNCOOKED METHOD OR INSTANT (METHOD 2):

  1. In a bowl combine, tomato sauce, salt, red chili flakes, oregano, dried basil, paprika, chopped garlic and finally chili sauce.
  2. Mix everything until well combined, instant pizza sauce is ready.

SERVE:

  1. Use these pizza sauces to make homemade pizzas or pastas.

CHEF’S NOTES:

  • You can use mixed herbs, instead of Mexican seasoning.
  • Adjust the seasoning to your taste, for both methods.
  • You can use these sauces for making pizza and pastas.

PREPARATION TIME: 10 Minutes.

COOKING TIME: 15 Minutes.

TOTAL TIME:25 Minutes.

PREPARATION TIME FOR INSTANT PIZZA SAUCE : 5 Minutes.
